Tony Bennett's gut-wrenching final words revealed by son who was at his bedside

Tony Bennett’s son Danny has revealed his father’s last words to him prior to his death in July, as he joined Tony’s wife, Susan Benedetto in their first joint interview since his death.

Danny is the eldest son of Tony Bennett, and his former wife Patricia Beech. The two were married for 20 years, from 1950-1970, and had two sons together, Danny and Dae Bennett.

Tony Bennett carried on performing until 2021

Tony Bennett passed away in July 2023 at the age of 96. The music legend, whose career spanned over an incredible eight decades was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2016 but continued to perform and record up until 2021.

The Rags To Riches singer was awarded 18 Grammys and was a Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient in 2001.

In 2014, the star broke his own record by becoming the oldest living performer with a number-one album on the US Billboard 200 chart. The project was his joint with Lady Gaga, Cheek To Cheek.

Tony Bennett’s son reveals his father’s final words

Emotionally opening up on the Today Show, almost two weeks after his father’s tragic death, Tony’s son Danny Bennett revealed his final words.

“His last words to me [were], ‘Thank you,’” the 69-year-old said. “Can’t say it better than that,” he revealed.

He said his dad was “the man of the people” and that he and his family never took the “amazing journey” for granted.

Tony’s wife ‘loved’ his relationship with Lady Gaga

Tony’s wife, Susan opened up on his relationship with Lady Gaga, who posted an emotional tribute to her friend on Instagram after his passing.

When asked what she thought about her husband’s relationship with the pop icon, Susan said: “I think it was a tremendous gift for both of them.

The fact that she could really help him to ride out his career in such a great way.”
