Selena Gomez has once again become a viral meme, as she’s left in shock by soccer superstar, Lionel Messi. In true Selena style, she of course got involved in the online jokes.
The music star was in the crowd at Los Angeles FC vs. Inter Miami over the weekend and was left stunned when goalkeeper John McCarthy saved a shot from the World Cup winner.

Just like the rest of us, Selena Gomez was left in awe as she watched Messi and the rest of the Inter Miami team play Los Angeles FC at the BMO Stadium.
In the viral video doing the rounds on X, formerly known as Twitter, the Disney alum looks wide-eyed and open-mouthed toward the pitch as Messi’s close strike is blocked by LA FC goalkeeper John McCarthy. The star can also be seen wearing a grey cast as she recently revealed she’d broken her hand.
Even the commentator picked up on her expression as he announced: “Selena Gomez can’t believe what her eyes just told her.”
Similar to the iconic blanket meme, the Single Soon singer took part in the joke as she shared the picture to her Instagram story with the caption “mood”.
Selena wasn’t the only celebrity in the crowd. Other attendees included Tyga, who was sat right in front of her, Inter Miami co-owner, David Beckham, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Prince Harry.
The 31-year-old attended the game with younger sister Gracie, whom she took to see Beyonce the night before alongside Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz.
After the game, she was asked to leave a message to Lionel Messi, as she said in Spanish: “Yes, I love you very much.”

As her cast can be seen in the above clips, some fans may be confused as to what happened to the star, and no, it wasn’t from her ‘unusual’ bowling technique.
During a recent appearance on The Ellen K Morning Show, the star told audiences she wished she had ‘a really cool story that she saved someone’s live or something’ however, unfortunately doesn’t.
In reality, she tripped walking from her car to her house while wearing a long summer dress. Although she joked the break “was not fun” she expressed that the silver lining was that she didn’t injure her face.
